Pre-Music Hall

On June 26, 1973, GCP opened A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum in the ballroom at the Fresno Hilton. Performing as a dinner theater the summers only, GCP cast and crew members thought nothing of disassembling the sets after each performance so the Hilton could accommodate the next day’s wedding reception or bar mitzvah, and returning immediately following to set up again for the next performance. With a company made up of mostly small-town college students, we all thought that was what they meant by ‘night-life!’
