This piece of classic Americana returns to GCP’s stage with irresistible merriment! Whaddya got when the town librarian confronts a traveling conman selling music lessons? Well, Ya got trouble, my friend – and hit musical! One of the best-written musicals of all time, this show is hilarious and happy, charming the audience and giving the cast plenty of chances to shine. 

***Please note: All performers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to audition and participate in shows.Kids aged 7-12 may audition if they have received one shot and if they commit to being fully vaccinated before rehearsals begin. Please bring a face covering and proof of vaccination to the audition.***

HAROLD HILL (Male 25-50) A con man, traveling under the auspices of a salesman, he eventually falls in love with Marian Paroo. Charismatic and charming.

MAYOR SHIN (Male 45-65) A blustery politician who is all too “self-important.” Begrudgingly married to Eulalie, he is skeptical of the town rumor mill.

EWART DUNLOP (Male 20-60) A member of the quartet formed by Harold Hill with a tenor voice. Ewart is married to Maude Dunlop.

OLIVER HIX (Male 20-60) A baritone in the quartet formed by Hill. Oliver is married to Alma Hix.

JACEY SQUIRES (Male 20-60) The highest tenor in the quartet. Married to Mrs. Squires.

OLIN BRITT (Male 20-60) A citizen of River City and the bass of the quartet formed by Harold Hill.

MARCELLUS WASHBURN (Male 20-50) Harold’s chummy old friend and former con man, he now lives in River City and is trying to settle down.

CHARLIE COWEL (Male 25-45) A traveling salesmen who is on to Harold Hill’s schemes. Tirelessy attempts to prove to everyone the true con man behind Harold Hill.

TOMMY DJILAS (Male 15-20) An attractive, young man from the wrong side of town. He is secretly courting Zaneeta.

MARIAN PAROO (Female 20-40) The stuff town librarian and music teacher. She is an attractive young lady who eventually falls for Harold Hill. Stuck up. Curious.

MRS. PAROO (Female 40-70) Cheerful and always plotting. An Irish widow and mother to Marian and Winthrop.

AMARYLLIS (Female 8-12) A slightly bratty piano student of Marion Paroo.

WINTHROP PAROO (Male 8-12) Marian’s baby brother, he is very shy because of a noticeable lisp. Embraces Harold Hill and the marching band.

EULALIE MACKECKNIE SHINN (Female 40-60) Mayor Shinn’s peacock wife. A serial gossiper and snob, she has trouble keeping her opinions to herself.

ZANEEZA SHINN (Female 14-18) The Mayor’s fresh-faced daughter who is in love with Tommy. Sweet and outgoing. Appears to be daffy at times.

ALMA HIX (Female 25-45) A “Pick-a-Little Lady” married to Oliver Hix.

MAUD DUNLOP (Female 25-45) A “Pick-a-Little Lady” married to Ewart Dunlop.

ETHEL TOFFELMIER (Female 25-45) A comical “Pick-a-Little Lady,” and Marcellus Washburn’s girlfriend.

MRS. SQUIRES (Female 25-45) A “Pick-a-Little Lady” married to Jacey Squires.
