Buddy, everybody’s favorite elf, is a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities force him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Despite his father being on the Naughty List and his half-brother not believing in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York reclaim the magic of Christmas. This modern day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear. Rated PG.

BUDDY (Male, Tenor, 20-35) Innocent, good-natured, well-meaning. Often finds himself in sticky situations (with syrup and without). Actor should have excellent comedic chops and sing well.

JOVIE (Female, Mezzo, 18-35) Works as a store elf at Macy’s. Her years of working in customer service have made her cynical but she is not without charm and a sense of humor. When Buddy comes on the scene, her hardened exterior begins to melt.

WALTER HOBBS (Male, Bari-Tenor, 35-65) Buddy’s real father. Initially a workaholic with no time for family or fun. He is selfish, tense, and angry. Buddy reminds him of the importance of family and what it’s like to be a child.

EMILY HOBBS (Female, Mezzo, 35-55) Walter’s devoted wife who would prefer her husband to spend a little more time at home. She is a problem solver and an excellent mother who is doing everything she can to provide a positive family dynamic.

MICHAEL HOBBS (Male, Alto, 9-14) The smarter-than-average 12-year-old son of Walter and Emily. He quickly befriends his new adult brother, Buddy, and does everything he can to make sure Buddy becomes a permanent part of the family.

DEB (Female, 20-55) Walter’s secretary, has the big responsibility of keeping her boss and the whole office happy. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels underappreciated.

MANAGER (Male 30+) As the manager of Macy’s, he’s doing everything he can to make sure all the employees stay in line.

GREENWAY (Male 40-65) A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him or who work for him.

SANTA CLAUS (Male, Baritone, 40+) He is annoyed with the Elves, tired of lying to Buddy and sad that people seem to be losing their Christmas spirit. He is still the same jolly old St. Nick underneath it all, but the job is getting to him. A natural story teller.
